Episode 13 of the newsletter is out

Well, Newsletter #13 is out… you’re welcome. ;P

I am giving you some well deserved updates on The Dads Project
Hi Friends...

To recap for the new arrivals:

  1.  It'll always be about what's going on in my photography world

  2.  I'll send something only when there's an interesting update.

  3.  I think you'll be relieved to know that I'm not really selling anything

  4.  I am funny sometimes

  5.  This is really so that we can stay in touch because Social Media gives me anxiety.

  6.  It'll be inconsistent in quality and how often it comes out. ;)

Overall, I really think you'll enjoy it.
You should catch up on the past issues right here

Today, 3 things and a quote..

To all the fathers out there... update:

If you've been subscribed to this newsletter for a while now, (and why wouldn't you, it's obviously the best thing on the internet) you'll know that late last year, I started this project about fathers and the love they/we carry for our kids. I have set this (very) ambitious goal of photographing 50 fathers for this project.

I hear you asking the pertinent question of: "why 50?" and I am happy to tell you that I do not have a good answer for you. Yup, I chose that number pretty much at random because 50 would be a big number and allow me to document a very large range of fathers and it gives me an end goal that feels ambitious and achievable. To be honest, with Covid-19 happening, I feel like I'll be about 50 years old when I finish it. :P

In the small window when California reopened I was able to bring 3 new dads, Jayr, Mo, and John...

Podcasting:

Oh, and yesterday, I had the privilege of recording another episode of the Hit The Streets podcast with Valérie Jardin... no big deal... she's kind of a big deal in the photography podcast space... it's all good. I'm very cool about this. Staying Classy... it's fine.

We talked about The Dads Project among other things. I think she and I have a great rapport and it's always fun to talk to her. She's a cool lady and I respect her quite a bit.

Take a listen and tell me how awesome it was. lol... I'm a man after all, and I have a fragile ego that needs to be fed constantly.

C.

The ECB way of life.

Some background info: I have lived on The Boulevard for a long time now and I have grown to love the area tremendously. It is the cultural nerve center of the city crisscrossing many culturally diverse neighborhoods. A couple of years ago, I started to document it. I wanted to turn it into a long term street photography project and document its grittiness, its battered and bruised up personality... because it's seen some s**t. You know?

During the Covid Quarantine, I reached out to the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association because I wanted to be of value to my community and help out The Boulevard, a place I truly love. We decided to collaborate and It led to this... Every Saturday morning, 147Photos does an Instagram take over of their account where I publish my street photography of ECB.

You should give them a follow.

and ... D.

Here's a quote I like:

Be the father you had. Be the father you wish you had.

                                                        — Me.

Explanatory comma: No need... Just be an awesome father.
