Episode 9 of my newsletter is out.
The secret is out… it’s not a well-guarded one and it’s not even a secret to begin with, but once again Antoine (me) strikes again and wrote a new issue of his/my newsletter about I’ve done recently in my photographic world.

And you can click on my face (repeatedly) if you don’t like me… I heard it’s kind of like the Voodoo doll 2.0. There’s an app for that… ;)

It's been a year!
1 year since I started this newsletter that just absolutely delights me to write. This has oddly been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I truly enjoy writing this nonsense to you all and I get to do what I love the most in photography: I get to share my work.
So you'll be glad to know that I've heard your cries. I have listened to your laments. And here I am... back by un-popular demand.
P.S: I still have to figure if those cries and laments were because you missed me or because you want me to stop writing the newsletter but let's not dwell on this. Self-awareness is not my strong suit.

I won a thing! (a biiiigggg one)
I won BEST IN SHOW at PPSDC's latest Image Competition with this image.
Now... I AM NOT a portrait photographer. I say this very clearly because I really think there are plenty of people more qualified than I am in my own association like Janet Bark (see above portrait) so I was doubly flattered when these same people knew I would win before I did. It's amazing to have the support of such good friends.
No snark here (I know, right!?). I am honestly very grateful for their support. It does allow me to grow as a photographer.
Lately, it does feel that my work has changed. I feel that my eye has matured a bit even if my mind is still just hitting puberty and there's no way that I could have pulled off this portrait a year ago.
I am learning how to see. (More on that at the bottom).
Dat model tho, right? ;)
Mauricio is a good friend of mine and I had wanted to photograph him for a while. We made it happen. He was as goofy and charismatic as ever.
If you want to check a bit more about my inspiration for the photo and what I was thinking, here's a blog post about it.

I like making YouTube videos:
Continuing the trend of "This is all about Antoine" thing I got going on with this newsletter, I also seem to have the delusion that creating a YouTube channel was appropriate.
Now, dear reader... we BOTH agree that this was a mistake but I'm not a fast learner so once in a while I make a new video.
and ... D.
Here's a quote I like:
It takes years to understand how to see
— Annie Leibovitz
Explanatory comma: I have nowhere the understanding and the talent this photographer has but I feel connected to her and her way of working. Like I mentioned above, I feel I'm only beginning to see.
That's it for today.
